Hi, I’m Oakley — the real love of Marykate’s life (just kidding... kinda). I’ve been by her side through a lot, but I never expected I’d be the one to help her find him.

It all started in Culpeper, Virginia. Marykate was on a travel nurse assignment, and Cody had just moved from New Mexico. Fate (and a little Bumble magic) brought them together — though let’s be honest, Cody never would’ve made a dating profile if his friends hadn’t pushed him into it. Lucky for us all, he did.

Their first date was at Grass Rootes — a cozy little spot in town. Marykate was late, and I may have played a small part in it. Cody was nervously waiting, but once they started talking, they didn’t stop. They closed the place down and then wandered through town together, ending up at the National Cemetery — which, strangely enough, became one of our favorite places.

Before long, they were inseparable — road-tripping through the Smoky Mountains, singing along to The National, and enjoying lazy mornings on the farm in Reva (where I proudly patrolled the property).

In the winter of 2022, we all moved in together — me, Mom, and this new guy Cody. Turns out, he’s pretty great. We had lots of adventures: moving out of Marykate’s Wilmington apartment (shout out to the random hero who helped with the dresser), hiking in the Shenandoah, dancing through a million weddings, catching fish with the Moody's, and watching Bonanza with the McGurks (and getting lots of chewy sticks from GGMa!!).

Then came June 2024. Cody planned a surprise picnic on Bruce Mountain — Mom’s favorite spot, overlooking the farm where they fell in love. That’s where he asked her to marry him. I was there, of course, tail wagging and heart full.

Now, they’re getting ready to celebrate with all of you — their favorite people. I’ll be around too, soaking up the love, snacks, and maybe stealing a dance or two.
